Update on 2025 Events

Hi gang,

As you’ve probably seen, we’ve had two major departures from the event team in recent months, and as a result we’ve needed to reconsider our capacity. While we are working to adjust to the changes and on-board new team members, that transition will take time, and leaves us short staffed.

For this reason we’ve made the difficult decision to only run two games in 2025.

We are very much planning for this to be a one time change and expect to be back to full capacity and three games in 2026.

Additionally, we are going to have to postpone a Season of Delving to 2026.

We envisaged this event as a particularly ambitious project, with some ideas that we were really looking forward to putting in the field but currently we are not prepared to do it justice. We know that this may be particularly frustrating as this mission was chosen by the band but we’d rather delay it than run it badly.

This decision was difficult for us to make and we know that it’ll be disappointing for everyone looking forward to this year’s LARP season, however we believe that this is the right call for us on the team, for you the players, and for the long-term health of the game. We hope that you’ll agree.

To explain these changes in character, and keep our timeline consistent – I’ll hand you over to Réig Tiernan MacAonghusa:

Thane Ualgarg,

Cumhacht na Réig will report to Dealtra, in the Riding of Dídean no later than the 30th of Spring and put yourselves in the service of my reckoners stationed there.

It is the duty of my office, as established by the first Réig, to push back the borders of the Great Forest and destroy the evil within. I know that you and your warriors have seen with your own eyes the great advances that were made by the forest during the recent interregnum. Iarla Sionnach has performed admirably under the circumstances but the efforts of Bruid alone will take years, or even decades, to return us to our former borders.

For this reason, I have sent my Gallgloglaigh to aid in the effort. The bands Crógacht agus Wachsamkeit, the Sky Splitters, Gloir na hIolar, and White Eye’s band have all spent the Autumn working to push the Great Forest back south of Bagrach’s line. It may not be their usual field of battle but the strength of a Galloglaich can be wielded through the felling axe and saw as well as through the sword and spear.

Their work has borne fruit, but their gains are far from secure. My reckoners, working with the local Riders and Iarla Sionnach, have determined where we need to push the treeline, what nests of gwyllt must be rooted out, and what fortifications must be rebuilt if the progress made so far is to survive the coming summer.

And so I am directing you, along with your comrades in the Green Marchers and the Pingin’s Worth to take up axes, saws, and hammers in Bruid this Spring.

I understand that some among your band may feel this is inglorious work for Galloglaigh but this is where the battle against the Gwyllt is fought with the greatest and most lasting impact. The dens of blutigcnámh will be turned into homes, treacherous forest into fruitful pastures, and the light of the Shaper will be brought to the dark places. It is the command of your first oath.

I understand that you have committed to a contract this Spring, but rest assured that I will intercede with the Rider of Crabbit on your behalf.

Réig Tiernan Mac Aonghusa

To summarise – instead of heroic and profitable dungeon-delving, the band has been called up by the Réig to spend their Spring doing manual labour in Bruid for no pay, but at least it’ll be offscreen and thus entirely survivable.

As to the new premise of our next event…

It is a Season of Reinforcement

Réig Tiernan Mac Aonghusa has been leading the siege upon the Great Forest with a fervour not seen in centuries, sending his Galloglaigh to clear the land of tree and gwyllt alike. In the settlement of Daracaoi this renewed energy brings hope of escape from the danger that has hung over the town in recent years. Once a beacon of hope and safety just out of sight of the forest’s edge, the town has struggled just to survive its engulfment by the advancing treeline.

Now that some relief has come the local Rider, Gannclan of Dídean, has hired Cumhacht na Réig to help the people of Daracaoi look beyond immediate survival once more. The Rider has an unusual request for the Band: as well as removing persistent local threats they ask that the Galloglaigh help to train the local militia in combat and in organisation. It is their hope that the skills and experience of Cumacht na Réig will help set up the town for many years of security to come.

As the band makes camp at the outskirts of the town on the 40th of Summer 803 TR, they will set about the work of recreating a peaceful haven at the forest’s northern edge.

This will be a Medium Threat event.

We’re close to nailing down a date for this game, and will share that information as soon as possible. The second game will take place in late summer/early autumn, when our third game normally happens, and we’ll similarly share details of it with you as soon as we have them ourselves. It is our current intention that the band will be able to select their mission for Autumn during the Season of Reinforcement game.

We’re extending the downtime deadline until the end of January, to ensure that you can adequately respond to the new information. If you have already submitted a downtime form and wish to change your actions in light of this, simply resubmit and we will use your most recent submission. There will only be one downtime period between A Season of Masquerade and A Season of Reinforcement, the band will be too busy learning how to lumberjack for any extra downtime actions. The expiry dates on lammies will be adjusted so that the items last for the same number of events as they would have before.
