Site Guide: Meath Eco Park
As I’m sure you have all heard us excitedly saying over and over again for the past while – our upcoming event, A Season of Sorcery, is going to be taking place at a new location, Meath Eco Park.
While this has a lot of exciting potential from a game writing perspective, it also means a lot of changes to the OOC logistics of the event, and so we wanted to highlight some of those now, rather than risking people only finding out in the event guide, or when they got on site.
Transportation
Meath Eco Park is located next to the M3, roughly halfway between exit 5 (Dunboyne) and Exit 6 (Dunshaughlin). There is ample parking available, and it will be possible to drive onto the IC field to load and unload.
The nearest train station is M3 Parkway, which is 6km from the site and is served by Commuter rail from Clonsilla (which is itself served by the Connolly to Maynooth line)
The nearest bus stop is Porterstown Lane, on the 109 and 109B Bus Eireann routes from Dublin to Kells/Trim. That stop is about a kilometer from site along a country road which is mostly flat
Five Oaths will not be operating any kind of shuttle or collection, however some of our civic minded players may be willing to pick people up.
The site has plenty of bugs, so we highly recommend bringing bug spray.
Fires & Cooking
This site does not have a dedicated firepit like the one in Collon, and the IC camp will be in a recently (read: sometime between now and the event) mown field. Campfires are permitted, provided they are raised off the ground and in a suitable container. Camping Stoves shouldn’t be placed directly on the ground – we’ll be making paving slabs available for anyone who wants them. If you intend to bring a firepit/brazier/etc, let us know in the IC tent registry form, or by emailing info@fiveoaths.com, so these can be considered in the camp plan
There are local takeaways which will deliver to site, however the event team will not be organising any kind of group order, nor will the player who has generously donated his time to do so before, as he is unable to make this event.
There will not be eating or cooking utensils available for general use as there were at Collon, so please bring any pots, pans, cutlery, plates, bowls, mugs etc. that you expect to need. Additionally, please note there is no Fridge, Microwave, or Oven/Hob on site.
Facilities
Meath Eco Park has a shower block containing individual shower cubicles, each with a small changing area and lockable door.
There is a separate block of two bathrooms, the exact numbers of which this author doesn’t recall, but in the 3-4 cubicle range each. We do not have a photo of them, because that would have been too weird a thing to do.
Between the two is a kitchen type sink suitable for washing dishes, under a cover.
Water is available from a standpipe located near Games Control/Monster room, which will be about 150m from the IC camp. For reference, that’s about twice the distance from one end of the Collon camping space to the other. The team will provide water containers in the IC camp, however planning ahead and having your own might be a good idea if you can.
While we are aware that some of you were quite excited at the prospect of a Sauna on site, sadly it is not currently in working order, and will not be available at the event.
Camping power hookups are available in the OOC camping area, and we will be setting up a tent to take advantage of that – this space will have a table, a power strip and a kettle. We would ask that players be mindful of this space, and not leave litter or other mess behind them here.
There are notable absences from this list, and indeed the site. There is no Fridge, Microwave, or Oven/Hob on site. If you require access to anything like this for medical or accessibility reasons, please notify us immediately so we can determine if accommodations are possible.
In-Character Camping
A reminder – if you have a suitable tent and want to camp in the In-Character camp, please fill out this form to register your tent.
Call for Thane’s Shedule Events
It’s that time again. If you are organising an in character event during free play time, whether that be a wedding, picnic, prayer circle, academic debate or knife fight club, you can submit it for inclusion in the Thane’s Schedule so that other players know about it in advance and can plan their outfits/speeches/bookmaking accordingly
Free Play times at A Season of Sorcery will be:
Friday 11pm – 1am.
Saturday 2pm – 3pm, 7.30pm – 8pm, 11pm – 1am
Sunday 1pm – 2.30pm.
If you want to submit an event, email a brief description of your planned event, name(s) of the character(s) hosting the event, and any to info@fiveoaths.com, and let us know when you’d like to run it by 23:59 on Friday August 22nd. In the event of a time clash we’ll reach out to both parties to ask whether you want to run at the same time, and if not, whoever emailed us first will get priority. Events will be added at the discretion of the event team, and as the Thane’s approved schedule is an IC document, any event that the Thane would not allow to happen will not be added. Descriptions of events may be edited for clarity and brevity.
*Free play time is time in, while there may be some minor monster roles still out there will be no combat encounters or major monster directed plot, it is intended to allow space for player led roleplay and plot activity.
