Seasons Greetings, everyone!
Downtimes are now open for our recent event, a Season of Masquerade! Item transfers should also be open, so if you need to send an item to another player, the option should appear in your inventory.
Some of our newer players may be asking: What’s a downtime? Downtime is what your character gets up to between games – Be that guarding settlements, crafting items, or researching the world. We have a handy guide on how to downtime in Five Oaths right here.
Downtimes for A Season of Masquerade will close at 23.59pm, Sunday January 19th
If you’re waiting on a reply to an email regarding downtimes or your inventory, don’t worry – You’ll receive a response soon, and extensions will happily be granted where needed.
Special Downtime Opportunities
There are a number of special opportunities available during this downtime period. Two of those were communicated on the Sunday Monstering report, however due to the unplanned delays opening downtime, we’ve chosen to reproduce them here:
You hear people talking that the Rider of Bród an Chroí is eager to put on a show of security for the many visiting Ruby Courtiers, and that Gallóglaigh guarding Bród an Chroí over winter can expect extra payment (Guard actions in Bród an Choí this DT will earn 15 pingin instead of the normal 10)
You hear from traders that due to the large amount of traders coming through disturbing things and dropping things, gathering is expected to be unusually profitable. (Any Gather action taken in the Iomra location this DT will yield an additional 1 of the chosen resource)
A number of Ruby Courtier NPCs visiting the band over the course of the event requested the assistance of galloglaigh in the coming months, however as these went out with NPCs rather than an at game announcement, we won’t be reproducing them here.
What we can do, however, is confirm details – so if you don’t quite remember an opportunity you were informed about, please email info@fiveoaths.com with as much as you can remember of the Ruby Court Client (name/family/physrep), Location & Desired Action – and we can fill in the blanks.
Any narrative outcomes tied to these opportunities will depend on the number of actions committed to them, not on the number of people who take them. It is up to the players who have discovered opportunities independently to make the details of them known, if they wish to do so. For example some players have made them known in the player Discord.

Up Next…
Unfortunately we can’t yet announce the OOC dates and locations of next year’s events, though we are working as fast as possible to be in a position to do so. For now, we can whet your appetite with a blurb for the next game!
It is a Season of Delving…
For centuries the tower of Iargúil has held its vigil over the Baolish lowlands, drawing scholars and treasure hunters from across the Five Realms to explore its halls and dungeons, in search of secrets and riches both. The Tower itself has long been picked clean but Rider Sláine of Crabbit, an avid historian, remains convinced that many secrets hide in the depths below.
The Rider is now insistent that it be made to give up what it holds, and Cumhacht na Réige has been chosen as the band to do it. A dangerous task, considering that many of those who have attempted to explore the dungeons beneath the tower have never returned. What’s more, as winter thaws and spring brings fresh messengers word has it that the Crab Dodgers, employed in Crabbit to protect the Bloodmeet, have made an astonishing discovery of their own regarding the Tower of Iarguil.
As the band sets up their camp on the 37th of Spring 803 TR, they will soon venture into the depths and learn what lies beneath.
