Here&#8217;s an explanation as to what has happened.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>From Nobility to Tiarna\u00ed and High Families<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have made a change to how we describe people of high social standing and influence in the Five Realms.The following changes are not intended to function as a retcon or to change anything about the setting of the game, rather they are intended to clarify the language we use to describe it, so that we can better present and more easily discuss Tirneach. You can read about how things stand now on the page about <a href=\"https:\/\/fiveoaths.com\/wordpress\/explore-the-world\/tiarnai-and-high-families\/\">Tiarna\u00ed and High Families<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Up to now the broad labels of \u201cnoble\u201d or \u201cnobility\u201d have been used to describe several quite separate concepts in the setting. What all of these things have in common is that they grant a character eligibility to join the gall\u00f3glaigh based on who their parents are. To clarify these categories, the criteria for entry to the gall\u00f3glaigh that previously read:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0The children of Five Realms nobility are always allowed to join.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Has been changed to say:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Members of the High Families, the Leasiar species, and the children of the Tiarna\u00ed are allowed to join by birthright.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All of these categories were previously eligible to become gall\u00f3glaigh, they are just now being listed using more specific language.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The term Tiarna\u00ed (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">teer-nee)<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will now be used to refer collectively to the Riders, Iarlas, and R\u00e9ig of Tirneach.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The term High Families will now be used to refer collectively to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Ruby Families of Siabhal<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Chieftains of Uasa<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Courtly Clanns of Baol<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Drakeblooded Houses<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The terms \u201cnoble\u201d and \u201cnobility\u201d will no longer be used to describe a category of person. Setting documents have been updated to reflect this change. In the unlikely event that this change in terminology creates an outright contradiction in existing setting material that we haven&#8217;t spotted, please alert the Event Team.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Rules Clarifications<\/h3>\n<p>We have carried out a review of the rules and have made some clarifications throughout the rulebook. These clarifications do not change anything major, they are intended to ensure that the rules are read as intended by us.<\/p>\n<p>You can consult the version history of the <a href=\"https:\/\/fiveoaths.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Five-Oaths-Field-Rules-Players-Handbook-Updated-180722.pdf\">updated Players&#8217; Handbook<\/a>, to see what parts of the rules have changed. The rules pages on this website have all been updated, and the Player Database will be updated over the coming days.<\/p>\n<p>For clarity, the following sections of the rulebook have had changed.
